The general objective of the Summer School is to provide a stimulating environment for young researchers seeking advanced training in important disciplines of economics and econometrics. Moreover, it offers all participants, especially advanced doctoral students, the opportunity to present their research and interact with other students from around the world, as well as with leading academic scholars.

About the 2025 edition
The 6th Summer School in Advanced Economics took place from June 22 to 27, 2025, at the Anargyrios and Korgialenios School of Spetses Foundation in Spetses. The specialized topic was “Advanced Causal Inference: From Theory to Practice,” and Jeffrey M. Wooldridge and Pedro H. C. Sant’Anna participated as the Distinguished Guest Professors.
The Summer School consisted of both theoretical sessions, in the form of lectures, and practical sessions. The practical sessions took place in a computer laboratory and aimed to complement the lectures with empirical applications. The working language of the Summer School was English.
Jeffrey M. Wooldridge
Jeffrey M. Wooldridge is the Walter Adams Distinguished Professor of Economics at Michigan State University, where he has taught since 1991. From 1986 to 1991, Dr. Wooldridge was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his Bachelor of Arts, with majors in computer science and economics, from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1982, with high distinction in general scholarship. He received his doctorate in economics in 1986 from the University of California, San Diego.
His research interests include econometrics, panel-data models, control-function methods, and the economics of education. He has served on the editorial boards of several academic journals and has published extensively in leading international journals, including Econometrica, the Journal of Econometrics, Econometric Theory, the American Economic Review, the Journal of Applied Econometrics, the International Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, and the Journal of Business & Economic Statistics.
Pedro H. C. Sant’Anna
Pedro H. C. Sant’Anna has been an Associate Professor at Emory University since 2023. He received his PhD in June 2015 from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He worked as an econometrician for Amazon and Microsoft and, from 2015 to 2023, was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University.
His research interests lie in causal inference, econometrics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and applied microeconomics. He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Econometrics and the Journal of Business & Economic Statistics. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy Microeconomics, the American Economic Association Papers and Proceedings, and the Journal of Econometrics. Through his research, he aims to develop, better understand, and further improve Difference-in-Differences methods.
